About Steve Moss
Born near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1960, Steve is the eldest son of a family of three girls and two boys. His mother, Harriet, is a child care provider (retired), and his father, Robert, is an aerospace engineer (retired) who was periodically laid off during the industry’s bust cycles during the 1960s and 1970s. As a result of his father’s unemployment spells, before he turned fourteen Steve lived in San Diego, West Covina, and Palos Verdes. The family ultimately settled in Palo Alto in 1974, where Steve attended Gunn Senior High School. His parents and siblings live in the Bay Area.
In 1983 Steve worked on a Kibbutz in Northern Israel, harvesting grapefruits. Over the years he’s traveled widely, in Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East.
Steve married Debbie Findling in 1999. The couple have an eight-year-old daughter, Sara, who this year transferred from Alvarado Elementary School to Brandeis Hillel Day School. They recently adopted a rescue puppy named Lucky.
Steve regularly bicycles,and attends classes at Centered Body Pilates, on Potrero Hill.
